Important August 2026 Update
SASSA moved main grants flagged for review to a special fourth payment day on 7 August 2026. Postbank has also set 31 August 2026 as the deadline for remaining SASSA Gold Card users to switch to a Postbank Black Card. SASSA disburses grants on specific days each month. Below you’ll find guides and information related to the payment schedules for all SASSA grants. Refer to the latest monthly post linked above for the current schedule.
How Payment Dates Work
SASSA follows a monthly payment schedule that typically follows this pattern:
- Older Person’s Grants - Paid first, usually from the 2nd to the 6th of the month.
- Disability Grants - Paid second, typically the day after the Older Person’s Grant.
- Child Grants (Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency) - Paid last, typically the day after the Disability Grant.
- SRD R370 Grant - Paid throughout the month in batches, with no single fixed date.
Collection Methods
You can collect your SASSA grant through the following methods:
- Postbank Black Card - Postbank’s replacement for the SASSA Gold Card; remaining Gold Card users should follow the official 31 August 2026 migration guidance.
- Personal Bank Account - Direct bank deposit (recommended)
- Retail Outlets - For SRD R370 grants, at designated supermarkets.

SASSA’s official 2026/2027 schedule has been published. This portal currently provides detailed month guides from April through August 2026, with the newest guides linked above.
Payment FAQs
Q: What if I don’t collect my grant on the scheduled date?
A: You do not normally need to withdraw the money on the first day. Check that it reflects in your account or payment channel, and contact SASSA if it is missing.
Q: Can someone else collect my grant for me?
A: Yes, but they need a signed letter of authorization from you and must present their ID along with a copy of your ID. This is not recommended.
Q: What happens if the payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday?
A: Payments are typically moved to the next business day. This is reflected in the official schedule.
Q: How can I check if my payment is ready?
A: You can check your payment status through the SASSA website, by calling the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 11, or by visiting our Status Check Guides. You can also dial the USSD code *134*7737# from your phone.
